Description

Objectives: 

  • Participants will be able to describe the history and applications of hand grip strength measurement as both a clinical and research instrument which supplies relevant clinical information and brings value in evaluation of individuals and populations at risk for malnutrition and sarcopenia 
  • Apply hand grip strength examination methodology and assessment in clinical practice as a functional measurement of the nutrition diagnosis protein-calorie malnutrition 
  • Learn the ASHD methodology, patient and examiner positions, practice basics as seated, and documentation of results 
  • List resources that support competent performance of the examination
