web201006 - Micronutrient Issues in Pediatrics and Adults
Oct 6, 2020 11:00am
‐ Oct 6, 2020 12:00pm
In recent years the topic of malnutrition mainly focused on protein-calorie deficiencies with minimal discussion on malnutrition in the setting of micronutrient deficiencies. Micronutrient issues in pediatrics and adults will address the association of micronutrient deficiencies and malnutrition, including the effects both have on the other. This webinar will discuss difficulties in maintaining normal micronutrient levels in individuals secondary to inadequate nutrition intake and excessive nutrition losses due to anatomical changes.
Learning Objectives:
Identify short cut strategies to prevent severe malnutrition in selective eaters
Evaluate the micronutrient status, requirements and methods of repletion in adult and pediatric patients with short bowel syndrome
Discuss how anatomy of short bowel syndrome affects nutrient absorption
