Description

Objectives:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology of diabetes in pregnancy. Discuss the management of diabetes in pregnancy and the management of a neonate born to a diabetic mother
  2. List common maternal nutrient deficiencies or insufficiencies, the effect of maternal nutritional intake on the fetus and neonate outcomes and microbiome, and how to prevent and treat these deficiencies
  3. Describe placental physiology and how placental perfusion affects growth of the fetus.
  4. Explain nutritional management of the intra-uterine growth restricted neonate
  5. Delineate criteria for appropriate central venous catheter device selection in the patient receiving PN and manage catheter associated complications
