Carrie Earthman PhD, RDN

Educated in Human Nutrition at Virginia Tech (BS, 1999), with graduate training in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois (MS, 1995) and the University of Arizona (PhD, 1999), Dr. Earthman is currently a Professor in the Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware. She joined the faculty at UD in January 2019, after nearly 17 years at the University of Minnesota. She has been a Registered Dietitian since 1991. Professor Earthman is an internationally-recognized expert in body composition and energy metabolism, with a focus on complex clinical populations. She has presented her research to a wide range of audiences across the globe. She relishes opportunities to deliver workshops on body composition assessment techniques to clinicians and students, and actively supports the development of clinical researchers through collaboration and mentoring. Dr. Earthman is the Director of the Body Composition and Metabolism Lab at UD. Dr. Earthman is an active member of ASPEN, where she has served as Chair for the Research Section, Principal Investigator for several NIH-supported ASPEN Research Workshops, longstanding member of the Research Committee and most recently, member of the Workgroup that developed the 2018 ASPEN Research Agenda.
