Albert Barrocas is Adjunct Professor of Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine. He is a graduate of Emory University and a retired General Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Barrocas is a charter member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and has served and continues to serve in multiple capacities including the Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors. In 2019 he received the inaugural ASPEN Champion Award. He is an Honorary Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly ADA) and served as a member of their Board of Directors.

A major interest of Dr. Barrocas has been Nutrition Support Teams. (NST) He served as the Medical Director of the NST at Methodist Hospital in New Orleans for almost 30 years. Throughout the past five decades he has championed the pivotal role of NST and the need for adaptation to changes in scientific, clinical, educational, healthcare, social and financial realms promoting inter- and transdisciplinary teamwork with the foundation of The Troubling Trichotomy.
