Sadeq Quraishi MD, MHA, MMSc

Dr. Sadeq Quraishi is a physician-scientist and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at Tufts Medical Center. He is also Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Quraishi first trained as a physical therapist at McGill University and then completed medical school and residency training in Anesthesiology at Penn State University. He went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, an NIH-funded translational research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, and a Clinical Nutrition fellowship through the Nestle Nutrition Institute. He is currently an executive MBA student at Oxford University Said Business School where he received the Director’s Scholar award. After nearly a decade of practicing medicine and directing the Nutrition Support Team at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Quraishi took on the challenge of directing the perioperative and critical care medicine research efforts at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Quraishi's personal research interest is in the area of macro and micronutrient delivery in hospitalized patients, with a special focus on perioperative and critically ill patients. His group has been involved in innovative and ground-breaking work related to vitamin D regulation in acute stress. Other areas of interest include strategies for: 1) assessing malnutrition in hospitalized patients; 2) maintaining lean body mass in critically ill patients; and 3) use of point-of-care devices to assess changes in lean body mass during acute illness.
