Dr. Taylor is a research scientist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Her background is nutrition support and she practiced for 18 years as the nutrition support specialist in the surgical/trauma intensive care unit. Beth has been an active ASPEN and SCCM member for several years, holding "fellowship status" for both organizations. Dr. Taylor seved as a co-chair for the 2021 SCCM 50th anniversary virtual congress this past February; and as a member of ASPEN's research and critical care committees. She has provided local, national and international lectures surrounding critical care nutrition and was one of the lead authors on the 2016 SCCM/ASPEN guidelines for Nutrition in the Critically Ill Patient. In addition, she has published several textbook chapters and has several peer reviewed publications on the topics of enteral, parenteral and ICU nutrition. As an educator, Dr. Taylor has served as a mentor and adjunct/guest faculty member for graduate dietetic students, critical care fellows, nurse practitioner students and pharmacy residents. She has received several awards including the Advanced Clinical Practice Award from ASPEN. Her research interests include the impact of malnutrition and critical illness on in-hospital complications and long-term recovery.
