Pediatric patients present a myriad of challenges for the clinician. Join us for this course focusing on managing the pediatric patient from a nutrition perspective. Faculty experts will deep dive into a variety of topics including monitoring of growth, feeding the preterm infant, malnutrition, enteral feeding tubes and connectors, blenderized diets, and intestinal failure.

Objectives:

Describe the management options for nutrient deficiencies in high-risk neonates
Monitor childhood growth and nutritional status during health and disease
Perform a nutrition-focused physical exam on pediatric patients
Summarize the medical evaluation of a child with poor growth
Differentiate between the medical and surgical approaches to managing malabsorption in short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure
Analyze medications and their impact on nutrition
Describe different types of research study designs and terminology
