Dr. Ajay Jain is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics with a dual appointment in Pharmacology and Physiology at Saint Louis University (SLU). He also serves as an Associate Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology and section head of Pediatric Nutrition at SLU. He completed his fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He has supported his basic science laboratory via NIH, ASPEN and NASPGHAN foundation funds with a focus on gut microbial alterations with use of parenteral nutrition, short bowel syndrome, role of luminal signaling, liver injury, protein processing and genetic disease. He is also involved in clinical research, leading single center, multicenter NIH and industry sponsored trials as PI. He is the pediatric PI for NIH funded NASH CRN. Dr. Jain is very well published and has received several national awards and accolades including the NASPGHAN Nutrition Prize, Harry M Vars and Stanley J Dudrick Award from ASPEN. He has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. He serves as a mentor to trainees and is the director of the MD/PhD program at SLU. He also serves as a member and committee chair to several national organizations and on the board of directors at ASPEN.
