I am a gastroenterologist who specializes in general gastroenterology and nutrition. I am currently the Chief of Gastroenterology at the Harry S. Truman VA and a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Missouri where I completed my medical school, residency, and gastroenterology fellowship. In 2013, I completed a nutrition fellowship with the Nestle Nutrition Institute. I am an accomplished researcher in the fields of outcomes research, interventional nutrition, bowel preparation before colonoscopy, and preventive strategies with > 375 publications as manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters. I have received the prestigious fellow recognition from every American gastroenterological society and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. I am very active at the national level, acting as a recurrent speaker at major conferences, moderator for expert panels, and chair of numerous national committees, including ASPEN’s Enteral Nutrition Committee. I love sunsets and long walks on the beach.
