Stephen McClave MD, FACN, FASGE, FASPEN, AGAF

Dr. McClave received his M.D. from Ohio State University, his Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of South Florida. Dr. McClave is Professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is Past-President of ASPEN. He was lead author on the 2009 and 2016 ASPEN/SCCM Guidelines for Nutrition in the Adult Critically Ill Patient. He was awarded Faculty Member for ESPEN in 2011, and gave their 2016 Arvid Wretlind Named Lectureship in Copenhagan, Denmark. He is the recipient of the ASPEN 2019 Distinguished Nutrition Support Physician Service Award. He is founding Chairman of the ASPEN Physician Engagement Committee. He is Past-President of the National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. He was lead author for the 2016 ACG Guidelines on Nutrition Therapy of the Adult Hospitalized Patient. He was awarded the AND Honorary Lifetime Membership. He received the ASPEN 2022 Excellence in Clinical Practice Award, giving the Inaugural Peggy Guenter Named Lectureship at the 2022 ASPEN meeting. He is a fellow of ASPEN, ACN, AGA, and the ASGE. He is author of over 280 articles and 55 book chapters.
