Dr. Mikhailov is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University. She completed a pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children’s Hospital) and Northwestern University Medical School, followed by a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Moffitt Children’s Hospital and the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco. She also graduated from the School of Public Health, University of Illinois, Chicago with a doctorate in epidemiology. Dr. Mikhailov has practiced almost 30 years as a general pediatric intensivist, serving the last 22 years at Children’s Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin where she is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Critical Care. She has also been a clinical consultant to Virtual Pediatric Systems, LLC (VPS) and has participated with VPS in the development of a quality improvement module to support the monitoring of metrics that focus on nutrition status in critically ill children. Dr. Mikhailov’s research focus is the impact of nutritional status and nutritional interventions on the clinical outcomes of critically ill children. She has published multiple articles in this area and continues to work on the expansion of this important clinical area.
