Sharon McCauley is a registered dietitian nutritionist and the Executive Director of the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Quality directing the office on dietetic credentialing, credentialing and recertification programs and serving as its chief staff officer. She effectively integrates strategic sourcing initiatives, resource management, quality, and organizational effectiveness with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic leading the Malnutrition Quality Improvement Initiative (MQii). Sharon also directs the profession’s scope of practice, standards of practice and professional performance, quality improvement, performance measurement, and quality strategies and initiatives and the Academy’s definition of terms focusing on practitioner competence for 113,000+ credentialed nutrition and dietetics practitioners. She provides consultation and education services to RDNs and NDTRs on quality practice issues, organizational standards of excellence and assists RD providers in service delivery including acute care, post-acute and long–term care, transitions of care, primary care, public health, and community-based population health. Sharon participates in workgroups and technical panels collaborating with peers on standards development and measures for national accreditation
(i.e., The Joint Commission, DNV-GL, and Commission on Cancer) and quality organizations (i.e., National Quality Forum). She establishes and improves onboarding performance metrics, and processes design teams to cultivate relationships, as well as aids with the strategic planning for business development activities for CDR and the Academy. Sharon communicates and monitors measures and promotes culture changes that support an environment of quality.
