Dr. Jose Mario Pimiento is a Medical Doctor from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He was trained in General Surgery by Professor Dudrick at the Stanley J Dudrick Department of Surgery at the Saint Mary’s hospital a Yale university affiliated program. He specialized in Surgical Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center. His practice focuses in multidisciplinary treatment of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies including gastric, esophageal and pancreas, in a high-volume tertiary cancer center. Dr. Pimiento is a winner of the Stanley J. Dudrick Research Scholar Award granted by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) in 2019. Currently Dr. Pimiento serves the section Lead for Upper gastrointestinal Oncology and the Medical Director for inpatient Surgical care at Moffitt Cancer Center a NCCN designated institution. His research focuses in the development of strategies to improve patient outcomes trough optimization of delivery of care for GI oncologic patients includes studying direct patient care and economic analysis of nutritional interventions for such patients.
