Dr. Carolyn Newberry is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Gastroenterology Division at Weill Cornell Medical Center where she serves as Co-Director of the Innovative Center for Health and Nutrition in Gastroentology (ICHANGE). She attended Temple University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. During her fellowship, Dr. Newberry also trained with the Nestle Nutrition Institute for Physicians and certified as a Physican Nutrition Specialist. Dr. Newberry's clinical and research interests lie in defining the relationship between gastrointestinal diseases, nutrition, and weight. She is currently involved in a number of clinical trials examining the effect of diet on digestive diseases, is in the process of editing a GI Nutrition textbook, and routinely writes review articles on the topic. She additionally has developed a nutrition curriculum for the GI fellowship at Cornell and hopes to expand this to programs nationally to educate the next generation of GIs on the importance of nutrition in clinical practice.
