Anita Nucci PhD, RD

Dr. Anita Nucci received a BS in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and an MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Registered Dietitian and completed a dietetic internship program at the MetroHealth System in Cleveland, OH. She served as a pediatric clinical dietitian at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1987 to 1996. In 1997, Dr. Nucci became the Manager of the Clinical Nutrition Department, the Nutrition Support Service, the Feeding/Lactation Service, and The Intestinal Care & Rehabilitation Center (ICARE) at Children’s Hospital. She served in this position until 2009. Through the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Dr. Nucci served as the North America Nutrition Coordinator for the Trial to Reduce IDDM in the Genetically at Risk (TRIGR) research study between 2001 – 2017. She also served as the U.S. Coordinator for the TRIGR study from 2013 – 2017. Dr. Nucci is currently the Associate Dean for Academics in the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State University. Dr. Nucci holds an adjunct professor position in the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine.
