Dr. Ursula White, a native of Monroe, LA, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University- Baton Rouge. She went on to obtain her Ph.D. in the Department of Biological Sciences at LSU, studying in the Adipocyte Biology Laboratory. Dr. White is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Science and the Director of the Physiology of Human Adipose Tissue Laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Her research addresses the important roles of adipose tissue during changes in energy balance and in response to exercise and pharmacological stimuli, and the impacts on obesity-associated co-morbidities in humans. She has been successfully awarded funding for several grants through the National Institutes of Health to support her work. Dr. White remains committed to discovering the triggers and health consequences of obesity and related diseases in order to inform effective prevention and treatment approaches.
