Allison Protain DO

I have been a staff neonatologist for almost 14 years in Akron, Ohio. I am board certified in neonatology and I practice full time. Most of my work is clinical in nature; but I also have started doing clinical research. I recently had my first clinical research paper entitled, " Evaluating peak inspiratory pressures and tidal volume in premature neonates on NAVA ventilation." This paper was published in European Journal of Pediatrics. I am now working on submitting another clinical paper focused on NIV NAVA level 0 in preterm neonates. I have always had an interest in ethics and I received my masters degree in bioethics at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine during my time as a neonatology fellow at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center. I have been on the ethics committee at both Cincinnati Children's Medical Center and also at Akron Children's Medical Center. I have participated in ethical consults, and have presented topics relating to clinical neonatal ethical issues at the BENO (BioEthics Network of Ohio) conference.
