Laura Gibofsky MS, RD, CDN

Clinical Nutritionist II, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, NY

Laura Gibofsky, MS, RD, CDN is a senior dietitian at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City where she specializes in delivering nutrition care for rheumatic and orthopedic conditions. Laura is also the pediatric dietitian and serves as an integral member of the Pediatric interdisciplinary team and helps identify those patients who are at the highest nutrition risk for postsurgical complications and provides guidance for optimal nutrition during the pre and post-operative period. Recognizing that the highest risk population often included those patients with Cerebral Palsy undergoing major spine surgery, she helped establish a protocol standardizing the need for a nutrition evaluation for all neuromuscular scoliosis patients. Her work has led to the development of the Pediatric Neuromuscular Scoliosis Nutrition Registry which will be used to better understand Pre-Operative Nutritional Risk Factors Associated with Undesirable Clinical Outcomes. Laura received her undergraduate degree in dietetics from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition with a concentration in maternal and childhood nutrition from Case Western Reserve University.
