Dr. Saurabh Khandelwal is a minimally invasive surgeon and current director of the University of Washington's Bariatric Surgery Program and Co-Director of the UW Center for Weight Loss & Metabolic Surgery. He hails from Chicago, where he did his residency in General Surgery at Northwestern University. After this, he came to Seattle in 2008 to do a 1 year fellowship at the University of Washington in Advanced GI/Minimally Invasive Surgery with a focus on Esophageal and Gastric disease. He started his academic practice in 2009 and was appointed director of the Bariatric Surgery program in 2011. He is current Associate program director of the Advanced GI/MIS surgical fellowship and has interests in surgical education and outcomes research.
