Todd Rice MD, MSc

Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN

Dr. Rice is the immediate Past-President of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and is a member of the Board of Directors. He has both clinical and research interests in critical care nutrition and nutritional support in the ICU. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University and the Vice President for Clinical Trials Innovation and Operations. He currently serves as the director of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Medical ICU, director of Medical ECMO, and the medical director of Vanderbilt's Human Research Protections Program (IRB). As a physician scientist, he takes care of critically ill patients as an intensivist at Vanderbilt and also conducts clinical research in the ICU, specifically in critical care nutrition. Dr. Rice is an established clinical trialist, having designed, conducted, and published numerous practice-changing multicenter clinical trials in critically ill patients. He also serves as the critical care PI for Vanderbilt's NHLBI funded Prevention and Early Treatment of Acute Lung injury (PETAL) clinical center. In the ARDS Network, Dr. Rice led numerous studies, including two studies on critical care nutrition. He has been continually funded by the NIH since 2005.
