Dr. Vincent Vanek graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1982 and completed a 5-year General Surgery residency at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Youngstown OH in 1987. He is a professor of surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Associate Director of Surgical Education at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. He has been the Chair of the Clinical Nutrition Committee for the Bon Secours Mercy Health Youngstown Market since 1989 and Chair of the system wide Clinical Nutrition Committee since 2010. He has been a member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) since 1988. He has actively participated in many ASPEN committees and Task Forces. He has been on the Ohio Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (OSPEN) Board of Directors or Committees since 1996 and he was OSPEN President from 4/1998 to 4/1999. He was on the ASPEN Board of Directors from 2003 to 2009 and he was ASPEN President from 7/2007 to 6/2008. He has been a Fellow of ASPEN since 2012. He was the Chair of the ASPEN Clinical Nutrition Informatics Committee from its inception in 7/2014 to 6/2019 and continues as a member of this committee.
