Journal-based CE Activity Overall Goal:

The JPEN Editorial team, selected this article to be offered for CE credit to fill an observed learning need in the arena of clinical nutrition and metabolism for members of the healthcare team. This CE activity serves to promote the process of life-long learning for members of the interprofessional healthcare team, including physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, and nurses by providing peer-reviewed journal articles that qualify for continuing education credits.

Goal and Target Audience:
This educational activity is directed toward clinical nutrition and metabolism professionals, healthcare team members, and others who wish to update their knowledge of clinical nutrition and metabolism. By participating in this educational activity, the learner may expect to:

Acquire knowledge in clinical nutrition and metabolism research that may benefit the individual and the healthcare team.
Update or confirm your understanding and your team’s understanding of appropriate clinical nutrition and metabolism practices.
Identify further learning needs of the healthcare team as they relate to the subject matter.

Learning Objectives:

Explain the beneficial effects of mixed-oil lipid emulsions.
Select the appropriate type of lipid emulsion for different clinical settings.
Analyze the significant findings of the study and explain the rationale for secondary outcomes.

Requirements for Successful Completion:

To obtain CE credit for this activity, attendees must read the journal article in its entirety, complete an online assessment and achieve a score of 100%, and complete an online activity evaluation. All are located in ASPEN’s eLearning Center (www.nutritioncare.org/elearning). All CE credit must be claimed prior to the expiration date, no exceptions.

ASPEN submits data as required to the CPE Monitor for pharmacists. ASPEN submits physician earned CME credit into Pars. ASPEN does not submit data to any other credentialing organization.

Pharmacists and physicians, please note that ASPEN will upload earned CE credit into the appropriate system within the required timeframe. Any credit not claimed by the deadline will not be entered. Please provide your correct information when completing your evaluation and claiming CE credit.
