Dr. Ajay Jain, MD, MHA is a professor of pediatrics, pharmacology and physiology. He serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Director of Pediatric Liver Transplantation, co-director for the Saint Louis University Metabolic and Nutrition Institute and as the current ASPEN president. Dr. Jain’s seminal contributions include pioneering work in the field of short bowel syndrome and parenteral nutrition associated multisystem injury, interrogating pathways, and leading development of novel systems to study pathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapeutic approaches for nutritional delivery and rehabilitation. He is also credited with development of unbiased discovery platforms and excellence in diagnostics and therapeutics for pediatric liver diseases and obesity. His research is funded via NIH and foundations. He has been a mentor to over 50 students and faculty, an NIH study section panelist and prominently recognized through high profile publications, patents and multiple national and international invited presentation and awards.
