Dr. Barrocas attended Emory University School of Medicine. Board Certified General Surgeon. Greater than 30 years in private practice of general, non-cardiac thoracic and vascular surgery, along with nutrition support. Thirty years as Chief Medical Officer/Vice-President Medical Affairs, New Orleans and Atlanta. Honorary Member (1993) and Past member of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Charter Member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). Several positions and awards in ASPEN, including Board Member and named the first ASPEN Champion. Numerous presentations and publications, mostly in the area of nutrition support. Currently serving on ASPEN's Board of Advisors and Editorial Board of the Nutrition in Clinical Practice (NCP) Journal. Currently, one of three representatives from ASPEN to the International Working Group for Nutrition as a Human Right.
