Bettemarie Bond OTR/L

Patient Advocate and Ambassador, The Oley Foundation, Levittown, PA

Bettemarie Bond first started on EN and PN 34 years ago, as a teenager, due to poor mobility and biliary issues. She fought to gain her independence and graduated from Temple University. She worked as an Occupational Therapist and gymnastic instructor all while infusing. As her neuromuscular condition progressed, Bette was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy and Dysautonomia. Despite no longer being able to work and struggling to do ordinary everyday activities, Bette uses her limited energy to spread awareness about PN/EN. She is passionate about advocacy and volunteers on ASPEN’s Public Policy Committee, representing the patient's voice. She co-authored publications in the Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and Nutrition in Clinical Practice and has given presentations across the country and internationally. Bette received ASPEN's Lyn Howard Nutrition Support Consumer Advocacy Award twice for her admirable advocacy activities.
