Caroline Couper, RD, LD, CNSC is a clinical registered dietitian specializing in intensive care nutrition. An advanced practitioner, she provides diet, enteral and parenteral nutrition care for diverse populations in the CVICU, MICU, SICU and neurological ICU with a dedicated focus on post-heart and lung transplant patients receiving advanced therapies such as VA/VV ECMO, CRRT, LVAD, IABP, and Impella. Internationally recognized for excellence and innovation, CCF recently introduced the RD Corpak Pilot Program, which Caroline completed. She is now placing gastric and post-pyloric corpak feeding tubes. She worked previously in CCF's world-renown Center for Gut Rehabilitation and Transplantation.

Beyond daily patient care, Caroline is active in developing and refining key patient care guidelines, influencing practice standards both within CCF and across the field. Recently, Caroline led the CCF's enterprise-wide SMOFlipid protocol revisions and implementation and collaborated to revise nutrition management recommendations for heart transplant recipients.

A 2013 graduate of Texas Christian University's Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Caroline began practicing at Inova Alexandria Hospital as part of the Medical-Surgical ICU team. During her time as a member on IAH's Ethics Committee she developed a deep interest in medical ethics, a passion that continues to inform her clinical approach and professional values today at the Cleveland Clinic.
