Dr. Compher is Professor of Nutrition Science at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing, and Shearer Chair of Healthy Community Pratices. She is also Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian Specialist working with the Home Parenteral Nutrition Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As ASPEN's first Clinical Guidelines editor, Dr. Compher coauthored a 2011 global leader consensus paper describing disease-related malnutrition, and a clinical guideline about diagnosing malnutrition in adults. She published a feasibility study of employing the ASPEN-Academy Indicators of Malnutrition (AAIM) at her hospital in JPEN in 2014. As President of ASPEN, she led the launch of the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) proceedings. She is eager in this session to help envision the next steps in recognizing and treating malnutrition in patients in clinical settings.
