Dr. Piper is a pediatric general surgeon at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is also an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Piper received training at Boston Children's Hospital, UT Southwestern and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and now specializes in the clinical management of children with intestinal failure. She is currently the Surgical Director of the BC Children's Intestinal Rehabilitation Program. Her research focuses on improving gut function and the nutritional status of children with intestinal failure by better understanding the relationship between the intestinal microbiota, the intestinal environment and diet.
