Dr. Hayley Billingsley began her academic journey by earning her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise at Virginia Tech in 2015. She then completed her dietetic internship at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System in Richmond, Virginia and began working with Drs. Antonio Abbate and Salvatore Carbone in the Division of Cardiology at VCU in their interdisciplinary laboratory. She quickly became interested in heart failure, trained as a clinical exercise physiologist and completed both her MS and PhD in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department at VCU in 2019 and 2023, respectively. Recently, Dr. Billingsley joined Dr. Scott Hummel as a T32 postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Michigan. After finishing her fellowship, she plans to pursue a career as a clinician scientist. Dr. Billingsley is an active member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Heart Failure Society of America, and the American College of Cardiology.
