Kera McNelis is a neonatologist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University. She first learned that nutrition is the best part of neonatology as a medical student at Case Western Reserve University. She has a clinical interest in intestinal rehabilitation for infants following GI surgery, and leads NICU bowel rounds. Her primary research focusses on neonatal body composition started as a fellow at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She is currently a principal investigator for a NIH-funded study examining the impact of a fat-free mass indexed-feeding intervention for large for gestational age infants and their oral feeding ability and appetite regulating hormones. Dr. McNelis also serves on the ASPEN Physician Engagement Committee and would love to tell you about how to get more involved with ASPEN.
