M. Cristina Gonzalez PhD, MD

M. Cristina Gonzalez is a physician and epidemiologist with extensive expertise in nutrition and body composition. She earned her medical degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas and subsequently completed a master’s and PhD in Epidemiology at the Federal University of Pelotas. Her doctoral training included a research exchange at Columbia University’s Obesity Research Center, where she specialized in body composition methodologies. In 2013, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, where she continues to serve as an Adjunct Instructor. She previously held a full professorship at the Catholic University of Pelotas and is currently a permanent faculty member in the Postgraduate Program in Nutrition and Food at the Federal University of Pelotas. She leads the COCONUT research group, coordinates nutritionDay in Brazil, and is a FASPEN Fellow with active roles in GLIM, GLIS, and SOGLI.
