Martin Rosenthal, M.D., is an assistant professor of surgery on the Acute Care Surgery team at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is the Director of the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and Intestinal Rehab Service (UFAIR) at UF Health, as well as, Chair of the UF Nutrition Committee. Dr. Rosenthal earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia and completed a general surgery residency and a fellowship in critical care medicine at UF. His post-graduate training also includes a nutrition fellowship and abdominal wall reconstruction course. Dr. Rosenthal is board-certified in surgical critical care. He is a member of several professional and medical organizations, including the ASPEN, SCCM, EAST, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Rosenthal has authored peer reviewed publication, book chapters, and serves as reviewer for several journals. Dr. Rosenthal's clinical expertise is in providing state of the art care for patients with large abdominal wall hernias, enterocutaneous fistulas, traumatically injured patients, and the critically ill ICU patients. He is regarded as an expert in nutritional therapies to decrease inflammation and catabolism. It is within this area that his research continues to contribute to the medical literature.
