Nina Rocca implemented a Transitions of Care nutrition intervention for malnourished patients at a community hospital in Massachusetts to complete her dissertation research requirements. Using a mixed methods approach utilizing a process evaluation was used to monitor the implementation of the intervention while an outcomes evaluation was used to look at participants’ improvement in unplanned hospital readmissions and nutrition status. Nina defended her dissertation during the summer of 2022. Nina completed her BS in Human Nutrition at the University of Massachusetts in 2006 and her Master of Science at Framingham State University in Massachusetts in 2018. She has worked as a clinical dietitian in the acute care setting for most of her career while precepting future RDs to be. She is passionate about her work in malnutrition and is looking forward to sharing the outcomes during ASPEN’s Malnutrition Awareness Week.
