Phil Mehler MD

Dr. Philip S. Mehler began his career at Denver Health 35 years ago and was formerly its Chief of Internal Medicine for 11 years and its Chief Medical Officer for 10 years until he was promoted to Medical Director, a position he held until his retirement. He founded the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health twenty years ago. Dr. Mehler is the Glassman Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado. For decades he has conducted research into the optimal medical treatment severe cases of Anorexia Nervosa. He has authored 550 publications and four textbooks. Dr. Mehler was the recipient of the Academy of Eating Disorders 2012 Outstanding Clinician Award, the International Association of Eating Disorders Professional 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award, has been recognized among the “Best Doctors in America” for the past 23 years. In 2009 he was awarded the Silver and Gold Award, as top alumnus of the University of Colorado and in 2013 Sabin Award for Outstanding Research from University of Colorado. He is a fellow of the Eating Disorders Research Society and the Academy of Eating Disorders, as well as a member of many editorial brands.
