Ross Buerlein is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia, where he performs and teaches advanced endoscopy, including complex endoscopic procedures on the pancreas like pancreatic ductal sphincterotomy, pancreatic ductal stenting, endoscopic cystgastrostomy, and direct endoscopic necrosectomy. Dr. Buerlein has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and spoken at national conferences on various topics in Gastroenterology, including the management of acute pancreatitis. He serves as an attending on the in-patient Gastroenterology consultation service at the University of Virginia, which is a tertiary referral center for some of the most complex pancreatitis cases in the region.
