Shannon Bell, BSN, RN, began her nursing career as an associate degree Registered Nurse in 2015 after graduating from Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma, USA. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma, USA, in 2017. At this time, Shannon is completing the requirements for the Master of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is on track to graduate in May 2025 with her degree focused on the Family Nurse Practitioner track. Her previous nursing experience includes adult inpatient telemetry, with most of her experience in the adult emergency room setting. She is the primary private-duty registered nurse for the patient, who is the focus of the case study presented. Shannon began in-home care of the patient in April 2020 after he was discharged to home following an extensive hospital stay of greater than 100 days, arriving home with a newly placed ileostomy and central line, requiring in-home parenteral nutrition. Shannon is the sister of Heather League, the patient's adoptive mother, and the aunt of the patient discussed in the case study.
