Dr. Teresa Isichei Pounds is the Founder and President of the West African Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (WASPEN), where she leads regional efforts to strengthen clinical nutrition practice, expand specialized nutrition services, and build multidisciplinary capacity across West Africa. Under her leadership, WASPEN has grown into a key driver of nutrition advocacy, workforce training, and policy engagement for underserved populations. She is also CEO of Clinipharm Global Health USA and the immediate Past President of NAPPSA. Dr. Pounds earned her BS Pharm and PharmD from Mercer University, where she teaches and mentors pharmacy students. Her clinical background spans metabolic support, medication therapy management, and HIV care, shaped by her residency at Georgia Baptist Hospital. Dr. Pounds established West Africa’s first International Pharmacy Practice Residency program and has championed pharmacy-based vaccination and emergency response training. Her work blends pharmacy, nutrition, and public health to advance equitable access to high-quality clinical care.
