Yves Boirie MD, PhD

Yves Boirie is Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Clermont Auvergne. He has been trained as Endocrinologist, diabetologist, and nutritionist in France and, after a PhD in Human Nutrition, has undertaken a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA. Professor Yves Boirie is head of a Clinical Nutrition department created in 2007 at the University Hospital of Clermont-Ferrand. He is also the director of a Research Team named "Food, muscle health and sarcopenia" (ASMS) within the Human Nutrition Unit in Clermont-Ferrand. He authored more than 350 original publications in international journals and has been the Chairman of the scientific Committee of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN). On behalf of ESPEN, he has contributed to different guidelines (PROT-AGE, EWGSOP 2010 & 2019, GLIM workshops, ESPEN/EASO consensus, and SOGLI).
