An increase in the education and understanding of fluids, electrolytes, and acid-base disorders is needed for all patient populations. The overall objective of this four-part educational session will be to provide the learner with the knowledge to accurately assess adult, pediatric, or neonatal patients given varying patient case scenarios. In this first session, the learner will be introduced to the nutritional based management of fluid and sodium disorders.
Learning Objectives:
Describe disorders of fluid and sodium homeostasis for various patient populations
Differentiate between types of hyponatremia and hypernatremia in patients receiving nutrition support
Develop therapeutic plans for treating hyponatremia and hypernatremia in patients receiving nutrition support
