Reported errors in parenteral nutrition (PN) use combined with new approvals for PN amino acid formulations and indirect calorimetry highlight the need for improved clinician competence. This symposium will provide tools to assist clinicians in understanding of PN and advancements in related technology to ensure improved patient-centered outcomes.

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the complexities involved in ensuring amino acid needs are met with parenteral nutrition
  • Outline best-practice indirect calorimetry to measure resting energy expenditure
  • Choose new digital tools and technologies to support patients’ nutrition needs
