Malissa Warren is an Advanced Practice Nutrition Support Dietitian at the VA Portland Health Care System and in the Department of Surgery at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). She has 25 years of nutrition support experience working with patients requiring specialized nutrition support therapy. She is an active member on local and National VA committees. In her role at OHSU, Malissa and Dr. Robert Martindale developed a multidisciplinary outpatient nutrition clinic for complex patients with short bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal fistulas, intestinal bowel disease, and perioperative complications where they manage outpatient parenteral and enteral nutrition support regimens. Professionally, Malissa is active in ASPEN and Dietitians in Nutrition Support for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She finds personal interaction with her patients and medical teams as well as having the opportunity to be a nutrition educator for other providers, colleagues, students, and fellows the most enjoyable part of her work.
