Dr. David S. Seres is Professor of Medicine in the Institute of Human Nutrition, Director of Medical Nutrition, and an associate clinical ethicist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He has been a physician nutrition specialist for 32 years. He is a national award recipient for his work in nutrition education and public policy and was elected a fellow of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. He is section editor for nutrition at UpToDate, coauthor of numerous clinical guidelines, coeditor of a textbook on nutrition in the ICU, and author of nutrition chapters in numerous major textbooks. He is a member of the Medical Advisory Board for Consumer Reports, has been a consultant to Attorneys General of two States, the Federal Trade Commission, and Truth in Advertising, Inc. on issues related to dietary supplement advertising fraud. He recently served on the planning committee for an NIH conference and the ACGME summit on nutrition education in graduate medical education.
