Dr. Deutz has more than 40 years of experience in the field of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. He is involved in research projects in older adult patients with reduced skeletal muscle mass and function. He has successfully administered many projects (e.g., staffing, research protection, and budget), collaborated with other researchers, and produced several peer-reviewed publications from each project. At Texas A&M, he is a tenured and endowed Professor and the director and founder of the CTRAL Center. The CTRAL Clinical Research Unit, with full nursing support, studies healthy subjects and patients with a variety of diseases (Sepsis, COPD, Cancer, MCI, Dementia, CHF, CRF) using IV (pulse) infusion with stable isotopes and other testing modalities.
