Small Nutrients, Big Problems—Managing Micronutrient Deficiencies During CRRT

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EDT
Tuesday, August 27, 2024
Overview

The use of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is becoming more common in intensive care units with many patients receiving prolonged CRRT for weeks to months. Micronutrient deficiencies are common in patients receiving CRRT due to losses in CRRT effluent.

This webinar will provide practical information regarding the impact of CRRT on micronutrient concentrations, an appraisal of recent literature and guideline recommendations for micronutrient deficiencies, and management strategies for micronutrient complementation, supplementation, and repletion in critically ill patients receiving CRRT.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe common micronutrient deficiencies that occur during CRRT.
  2. Discuss recent evidence and international guidelines on micronutrient deficiencies CRRT.
  3. Develop micronutrient complementation, supplementation, and repletion regimens for acutely and chronically critically ill patients receiving CRRT.
